A Troubled Peace By: L.M. Elliot   Before I go into the book, let me preface it by letting you know A Troubled Peace is the sequel to Under a War-Torn Sky. Both are excellent books – published some time ago, and very much worth the read. I read Under a War-Torn Sky at least… Continue reading Book Recommendation: Young Adult

Book Review Has Anyone Seen Jessica Jenkins? By: Liz Kessler   Liz Kessler is one of my favorite middle-grade authors, since she writes about my two favorite things: middle school and a little bit of magic. This book is no different, and we have the privilege of following around middle-schooler Jessica Jenkins, who discovers in… Continue reading Book Review – Middle Grade

Sitting here by my sparkling tree I finished the last pages of the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. ✨ . Rarely do I cry for a movie, and even more rarely do I cry for a book, but the ending of this one brought tears to my eyes. However, like Gandalf says on the very last page, “Go in peace! I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.” 💛 . Life-changing read. 💕 #Tolkien #amreading #bookstagram #bookswelove
SO 🌟 CLOSE 🌟 TO 🌟 FINISHING 🌟 FIRST PASS 😅 . I took my rest day yesterday, and headed to a Starbucks right after church with printed versions of my revisions. ✨ When I’m done with big changes, I pretty much HAVE to do a paper read-through to make sure all the wrinkles are smoothed out. . And it means I’m SO 🌟 CLOSE! #amrevising #pitchwars #amwriting
Still feeling quite weak from my family’s hard-fought stomach bug battle, but at least I can sit up and even read today 🙃 my house is a mess and our lights aren’t up yet but honestly being forced to slow down has been maybe the best thing for us ❤️ #authenticmotherhood #thegreatestgift #momistired
A very good friend passed away a few weeks ago, and the truth is I can’t even keep writing without first honoring him. When I heard the news, I did the only thing I knew to do for comfort: I wrote a poem. . To Be Home . How do we say goodbye? We say “See you later.” What a feast it will be To break bread and Spread butter To laugh and dance To sing and worship To fit the missing piece Just in its perfect place To kiss the lion To hug the Savior To know His laugh It’s like coming home It’s like skin to skin It’s like being full Of milk and honey It’s like a wedding dance It’s like a field With soft breezes And warm grasses And when we gaze Upon His face Knowing all is well, It is well, It is well, I cannot wait To look at you, Your face shining From His and say “How Perfect it is, Old friend - Cherished, we are indeed! How silly were we? To ever doubt it? - Ah! Yes. How Perfect it is To be Home.”
I’m just over here wondering when I’ll be as smart at Gandalf. 💕 In other news, reading Tolkien’s LOTR is still amazing and working on #pitchwars revisions is still magical ✨(...and a little tiring, but that’s what chocolate and coffee are for, right? 🍫☕️)
After reading my #pitchwars mentors’ edit letter, I feel like I’m just humming and tingling with all the words and beauty and magic that want to dance out onto these pages! ✨📝 . Side note: this morning I’m working all curled up and snug in my office while Baby naps, but some mornings I write in the thick of things: one hand on my keyboard, one hand tickling Baby, one leg being rubbed by a cat who’s passive-aggressively hinting for more food...because the truth is these sweet things in life don’t hinder my writing - they inspire it! 💕✨ Thankful.
